Traffic in Germany
For freight transport, Germany has the "LKW-Maut": a kilometer charge for the highways. The toll costs are usually between € 0.15 and € 0.25 per kilometer.
There is an environmental zone in a large number of German inner cities.
Access to these zones is granted based on the emission standard of the vehicle, and is indicated by a sticker on the windshield.
The Germany authorities are very strict about enforcing traffic rules, and they work with a points system for the driving license.
Driving bans in Germany
On Sundays and public holidays, a driving ban applies to the entire German road network from 0:00 - 22:00 for trucks and trailer combinations (B / E and C / E) with a maximum laden mass of more than 7.5 tonnes and for trucks (truck from 2800 kg total weight) with trailer, regardless of the total weight. Exceptions to this are airfreight, quickly perishable food and associated empty journeys.
